Picking A Roommate
When you start trying to pick a roommate, it can seem really difficult, but hopefully this post will make it easier.
Things to possibly ask:
Once you've decided who your roommate is, it's time to decide who's bringing what. The things you should consider here are things for the bathroom (shower curtain/bathmats/trash can for the bathroom/etc.), cleaning supplies, and anything like a Keurig. (There's a mini fridge and microwave in the room already.)

Things to possibly ask:
- What are your interests?
- What time do you usually wake up?
- Do you have morning classes?
- What time do you usually go to sleep?
- Will you have a TV?
- How clean/messy do you keep the room?
- Do you think you'll have friends over often?
- Would it be okay if I had friends over?
- Does sound bother you when you study?
- Where do you think you'll study the most?
- Do you want to coordinate room decor?
- About what temperature do you think you'll want to keep the room at?
- Do you take showers at night, or in the morning?
- What do you think your social situation will be like?
- What are your favorite (shows/bands/movies/etc.)
- Will you be staying most weekends or going home?
- Do you plan on rushing?
- What clubs and activities are you interested in?
- What would you be okay with sharing?
- What are you not okay with sharing?
- How do you handle conflict?
- What are your pet peeves?
- When will you be moving in?
- Do you have friends from high school coming to SHSU?
- Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
- Do you smoke? (Although remember that SHSU is a tobacco free campus!)
(Don't forget about the form you filled out when you applied for housing. You can look at a future roommate's form just by searching for them.)
Things you need to know:
- You and your future roommate may not be best friends. (and that's okay.)
- You and your future roommate may be best friends. (that's okay too)
- You don't have to have absolutely everything in common.
