What is the Picnic?

The Spring Picnic that is we are required to go to is coming up in the next week, and the freshman are sitting there wondering, what is this picnic we have to go to?

Well, glad you all asked.

We'll all get up in the morning and meet in front of Lone Star Hall and get on a charter bus. Yes. One charter bus because face it, there's only about 35 of us. Once we're all on the charter bus, we will take off for the picnic location. This year it's at George Ranch. Be prepared for not much happening on the way there. Due to how early it is when we get on the bus, most people are going to be quite sleepy. Bring something to keep you entertained on the bus.

When we arrived last year we were greeted by the Terry Foundation staff, and then sent straight into the food line. We sat ourselves at tables and began eating. This coming year we will be sitting by class. If you are a 2015 Terry Scholar, you will sit with other 2015 Terry Scholars from other schools. Pick a buddy and stick with that one person. Other than that one person, avoid sitting with others from your school. This is one of the chances you will get to meet other Terry Scholars.

After you finish eating, you may find yourself with time to spare. Last year some scholars brought frisbees and started a game of frisbee nearby after eating while waiting for the speeches to start. Speeches will get started. Every graduating senior will get to speak at the picnic, but there is a time limit. Each school will also get to present what they have done in the past year, and gifts will be presented. The Terry Foundation staff will also speak. They will let us know about any changes that might be happening, and just offer updates on what has happened with the Foundation recently.

When this is all said and done, it's time to get on the bus and head back to campus. The exciting thing about the ride back is that we get to find out who our new Terry babies are.

And all in all, this is the picnic that we go to every April.
