I Wish I Knew That...

To our 2015 Scholars, the older Terry Scholars have shared some things we wish we knew as we entered our first year of college, and we hope you find this information helpful.

"I wish I knew that the freshman 15 is real." -Brianna

"I wish I knew that I would spend money on textbooks I don't need to read." -Jacob

"I wish I knew that I could say 'no' to things." -Naomi

"I wish I would have known how easy it is to meet people here. All it takes is for you to say 'Hey' to someone." -Edwin (and Will agrees.)

"I wish I knew that intramural sports can be time consuming." -Brianna

"I wish I knew that if you eat every single meal at Old Main in your first semester, you'll be really sick of it second semester." -Kirsten

"I wish I knew I can't control everything that happens." -Naomi

"I wish I knew getting involved is the best way to make friends and meet new people." -Will

"I wish I knew that time management is a bigger issue than you think it is." -Brianna

"I wish I knew that the 3 most important things in college are water, time management, and Netflix." -Chase

"I wish I knew how much free time I would have (haha I know right) but I mean that there's so many ways to dedicate your time and you must allocate wisely and manage your time." -Brackston

"I wish I knew that breaks are just as important as work." -Naomi

"I wish I knew how important it is to plan out your day ahead of time rather than just hoping you don't forget anything." -Will

"I wish I knew to not bring as many tshirts as I did because you will get free/cheap shirts at just about every event you go to." -Kirsten

"I wish I knew that although grades are important, social interaction really helps and making friends is a necessary experience." -Jack

"I wish I knew not to take 8ams or Friday classes and how to manage money. Freshmen year flies by, so make everyday a new experience, make as many new friends as possible, join other organizations, and enjoy it!" -Hayley
